Karen Roth...

"Miss Karen"

Enthusiastic about music and about the development of children, Karen creates a fun, informal, social setting that spurs engagement and supports each child's musical development.

"Miss Karen" never imagined how many metropolitan Detroit families would sing "Hello Everybody" in Farmington Hills when she discovered Music Together® in 1993! Eighteen years ago, Karen took the Music Together teacher training with Ken Guilmartin (Founder & Director of Music Together, LLC and co-author of Music Together materials), established Musicmakers Center, and has been teaching Music Together ever since. Karen has increased her expertise and renewed her enthusiasm for sharing Music Together through continuing education in Music Together with Lili Levinowitz (Co-Founder of Music Together and co-author of Music Together materials, early childhood music education researcher, and college instructor), participation in Music Together Directors' Weekends, and participation in local Songs & Skills Workshops.

Karen also has 30 years teaching experience as a Suzuki method violin teacher. Current violin teaching is through Musicmakers Center, at Blue Lake Suzuki Family Camp each June, and at local Suzuki workshops. Karen's studio includes over 20 students, ages 4-17, beginners through advanced. Karen has studied Books 1-7 with renowned Suzuki Teacher Trainers around the country. Performances with her husband, Eric, a pianist/organist, are very special opportunities.

Word-of-wisdom to parents of young children from Karen ~ Treasure each step along the way, and make music part of every day and every milestone. Sooner than you can imagine, your babies will be grown. Give them the gift of music; they will appreciate the musical world for the rest of their lives! (Karen's daughters, Rachel and Susanna, are now beautiful adults who love music...and grandson Sam will attend his first Musicmakers class this fall!)
